The first few minutes didn't go so well with Rhydding piling on the pressure in midfield.
Fortunately, they couldn't convert this pressure into meaningful shots on Tony Sykes's goal which left Halifax to fashion the first real chance on goal after winning a short corner on the counter attack.
With the first strike saved, Horsley was unable to turn in the rebound after a great recovery by the Rhydding keeper.
Buoyed on by the chance, Halifax began to take control of the midfield battle. The younger legs of Sutcliffe and Ward were able to keep the ball away from the more experienced Rhydding players.
Still Rhydding managed to forced numerous short corners, fortunately not getting a single on one target.
Using substitutions to their advantage, Halifax brought on Christian Mayland whos running behind the Halifax attack opened gaps in the Rhydding defence.
Soon an accurate Mayland pass towards the far post allowed striker David Willis to volley home, with precision, a goal that allowed Halifax to take the lead before half time.
Halifax started the second half looking to control the midfield expecting an onslaught and looked to restrict the opposition's chances.
As the game wore on, Halifax looked to press on the advantage of youth but, despite numerous attacks, Halifax were kept out by some good work from the Rhydding keeper.
Debatable decisions against Halifax saw several short corners but, luckily for Halifax, the opposing team failed to capitalise on their chances and the game ended 1-0 in Halifax's favour.
Despite feeling pleased with the result, Halifax feel they could have scored more as goal difference may turn out to be crucial to the outcome of the league.
