In what would prove to be a tough match against an unfamiliar Leeds side, who sported significant changes since the game earlier in the season, Halifax battled to a 3-3 draw with a last minute equaliser

Halifax started the stronger team and created the first chances. With Olly Jackson working hard down the right the Leeds defence were struggling to stop Halifax going forward with some last ditch sliding tackles needed to keep the Halifax strike force getting a good sight of goal.

After 15 mins of Halifax pressure without much return Leeds started turn the game in their favour with some surprisingly skilful players taking control in the middle of the park passing the ball around with ease.

This resulted in Leeds winning a short corner which they managed to convert.

Then, despite the defence managing to cope with the pressure, a slip in concentration let a Leeds player run free into the D dispatching his shot past keeper Smith whilst the defenders were waiting for the umpire to blow for a foul.

Two shots and two goals for Leeds didn't leave the scoreline looking good for Halifax even though we were far from out of the game.

Not long before half time Halifax reduced the deficit. Picking up on a Willis through ball, Horsley's first effort came off the advancing keeper favourably leaving a simple strike into an open goal.

At half time Captain Fawkes urged the team to keep the pressure up straight after the restart and try and improve on the late first half goal.

Unfortunately things didn't go to plan with Leeds starting quickly and working a goal within the first couple of minutes to make the score 3-1.

With Leeds pressing high to try and force another goal the Halifax defence had to work hard to keep them out. Some good tackling from Matthew Ward at right back helped alleviate some pressure and allowed Halifax to mount some good counter attacks.

When Sam Spencer fired a through ball past the Leeds defence Horsley was able to drive at the Leeds keeper slotting the ball into the bottom corner for his second of the game.

With the Halifax defence holding out against the Leeds attacks Captain Fawkes decided to change the formation, taking himself off and bringing Dave Willis back on up front.

This proved to be effective with Halifax pressing forward and winning a short corner. Richard Marshall confidently stepped up, not wanting his 'unbeaten in 2013' run to collapse in the last game of the year.

When the ball was pushed out Marshall showed good composure to sidestep the Leeds runner and calmly fire home the equaliser. Having seen their two goal lead disappear Leeds didn't seem to have anything left in the tank and Halifax almost managed to nick the win in the last minute when Horsley picked up a pass between the Leeds defenders and drove at the goal only to see his shot deflected wide by the keepers foot.

The final whistle saw it finish 3-3 with Halifax happy to get a point against a very strong but very disappointed Leeds.
