Back to back wins for Men's 2s

Halifax seconds sent out a young side to face Slazengers II and collected all three points in a smash and grab raid.

A return for Steven Fawkes at sweeper gave the team some much needed maturity and with Nick Barker kept the repeated attacks from Slazengers at bay.

As the pressure increased Slazengers left gaps at the back that were exposed by Halifax as David Willis converted a pass from strike partner John Horsley. Shortly after the favour was returned at a short corner for Horsley to score allowing Halifax to take a 2 goal lead into half time.

Shortly after the break a weak defensive effort let Slazengers back into the game.

However, as the game went on the best opportunities came to Halifax on the break with a 3 on one wasted when the GK intercepted the final pass with two players available and an open goal available.

Halifax managed to survive the remaining minutes, despite a yellow card lowering them to ten, and loudly celebrated their defensive effort at the final whistle. Hopefully the return of a few senior play players this coming weekend will help them to maintain their winning start to the season away at Leeds on Saturday
