Halifax Ladies I 1-4 Newcastle Ladies
This was a top of the table clash in North East Division Two, with Halifax standing four points clear of second place Newcastle. Halifax had beaten Newcastle 4-0 earlier in the season and it was clear from the outset they intended to set the record straight.
With a lot of back and forth and open play neither team seemed to make much progress. Halifax press quickly shut down much of the Newcastle short plays, forcing the big hits down the pitch. A slip in defence lead to Newcastle finding their first goal.
Shortly afterwards, a quick play from a 16 yard hit out Newcastle ploughed the ball down the pitch to the high player with support and found the goal.
HT 2-0
Halifax showed dominance going into the second half. With a large proportion of the game being played in the Newcastle half but with the opposition defending well they struggled to find an open shot at goal. Finally the pressure paid off and working the high ball through to Dani Parker left her 1 on 1 with the keeper. With Michaela Holroyd and Courtenay Fisher joining the three managed to put the ball away in the bottom corner. 3-1.
A couple of Penalty Corners for Halifax left them wanting but unfortunately not able to convert.
Not giving up the fight though Newcastle fought to the end and finished the game 4-1
