Halifax 1sts 1 - 2 Boston Spa Ladies 1sts
Scorer : Wright
With only four matches remaining in the north league, Halifax desperately needed 3 points against a tough Boston Spa team.
Being in similar positions in the league and having a strong squad out, Halifax went into the warm up positive of giving the away side a run for their money.
Halifax started extremely well and had the majority of the possession, with some quick passes all around the pitch. Playing some of the best hockey they've played all season, Halifax were rewarded with a goal after about 10 minutes when a well planned short corner enabled Lauren Wright the opportunity to convert the rebound and flick the ball into the net.
Although Halifax continued to dominate Boston broke against the run of play and a first time hit by the away side let them get their equaliser.
Into the second half, of an extremely quick game, Halifax continued to dominate but were unable to put the ball in the net, with Emma Crawford coming close with a one on one with the keeper.
Having had the majority of the possessional play, Boston did break away but an excellent save by Sharon Crawshaw kept the ball out of the net. Playing defensively strong with some excellent play across midfield to link with the forwards, Halifax were unlucky on many occasions.
However, with 5 minutes to go, a Boston player chipped the ball into the D that ended up in the back of the net. The score remained 2-1, which was extremely disappointing for the home side.
Halifax must win their next match to secure their place in the North league.
