Strong finish from Ladies 1sts

Halifax welcomed a young Leeds university side to the Park Lane pitch in the hope of gaining another 3 points in the north league.

Halifax expected a tough match even though Leeds were below them in the league.

Leeds started strong passing the ball well around their team but were matched by the home side. However, after 10 minutes Leeds broke away down the left hand side and managed to put the ball in the net, even though Jo Love dived nearly stopping the goal.

Halifax stayed strong and committed, even though at times the Leeds players were quick at moving the ball around. The home side were rewarded with an equaliser when some good play down the left gave Emma Bedford the opportunity to get the ball to Kate Walsh who played a one-two with Emma Crawford enabling Kate to put the ball in the back of the net.

Into the second half, the university side managed to get an early goal following some quick passes.

Halifax stayed composed and determined and were rewarded with a second goal when Zoe Hartley powered a rebound into the net. The match continued to be tough, with some good play from both sides.

With 8 minutes to go, Halifax earned a short corner which Lauren Wright lifted into the back of the net.

At 3-2, Halifax had to stay strong and composed as the young university side tried to pile pressure on the Halifax defence. However, they couldn't break through and Halifax got their winning goal from some good play down the right enabling Walsh to get her second goal of the match.

A great win which left Leeds university in the bottom two with possible relegation and Halifax securing 7th position.

In their last match, Halifax face top of the league Chapletown at home.
