Ladies 1sts lose tough battle

Boston Spa 1sts 3 – 2 Halifax 1sts

Halifax Ladies travelled away to face Boston Spa hoping for a 5th win against a tough side in the North league.

Halifax started well and passed the ball well around the pitch, with good linking in all areas. This was rewarded early in the first half with a goal when a short corner was earned which Emma Crawford passed the ball to Steph Jones who flicked the ball away. Following the goal Boston got into their stride and started to at times dominate the game with some extremely physical play. Even though Halifax were playing well, especially in defence, Boston were rewarded with two goals before half time leaving it 2-1 to the home side.

Into the second half, Boston continued with their physical and aggressive play and were again rewarded with another goal. Halifax started to battle back and never gave up, with some great play, with a goal saved on the line by Jo Love.

This positive attitude and play was rewarded with a goal when an excellent pass from Emma Crawford set up Kate Walsh who slammed the ball in the net. Halifax continued to pile on the pressure and evenly matched Boston, which the home side didn’t like.

A nail biting finish occurred, when Halifax were awarded a short corner in the last seconds of the game and the final whistle went, meaning the short corner had to be taken. Halifax took it well but the Boston defender committed a foul to let Halifax have another corner which unfortunately they were unable to put away leaving the score at 3-2 to Boston.

Halifax stay 5th in the league, and next week travel away to meet Huddersfield Dragons to try and earn a win and those all important 3 points
