Now the only unbeaten team left in the league, Ladies 1s secured another home victory 4-1 against Rotherham 1s

Halifax I 4-1 Rotherham I

The first fifteen minutes of the match was an evenly contested affair with Rotherham the team to break the deadlock after creating an overload in the Halifax defensive third. The ball was slipped to the free player who struck a firm, well directed shot past keeper Cassie Barker.

After Helen Boughton took to the field and started to exert a calming influence, Halifax started to gain the ascendency and they were back level five minutes later. A Rotherham hit out was closed down by the Halifax forwards with pressure from Grace Ramsden forcing an error which fell to Dani Parker who made no mistake from the top of the D with a fine strike which flew into the goal. Despite more Halifax pressure the score line remained at 1-1 at the break.

Rotherham became rattled after half time as Halifax’s defensive partnership of Captain Becca Camp who was todays man of the match and Natalie Tyson snuffed out every attack and set up wave after wave of Halifax attack.

Steph Jones’ well paced shot when coming in from the left after a through ball from Emma Liversidge opened the flood gates and Halifax’s dominance began to be reflected in the score line.

Dani Parker added her second and the teams third goal, after Michaela Midgley won a tackle as Rotherham attempted to bring the ball out of defence. Midgley’s pass found Jones whose shot was saved by the keeper, only for Parker to put in the rebound.

Close to the end of the match Rotherham’s desperate defending led to the award of a penalty flick which Lauren Wright converted like a pro!

After four matches Halifax are in fourth place in Division Two of the North League, the only team unbeaten but with some tough matches coming up.
