University of Leeds VIII 1-2 Halifax Ladies V
Ladies 5 travelled to Weetwood Hall to come away with a victorious 2-1 win against a strong Leeds University team. Halifax dominated from the start with Ciara Brennan making some fantastic attacks down the right flank supported by Alicia Powell.
Captain Katie Smith worked hard in the centre of midfield and Halifax were soon rewarded with a first goal from Sam Sutcliffe.
Leeds fought hard but were no match for the Halifax defensive line with strong clearances from Sasha PennyWard and Claire O’Brien.
The continued persistence of Hannah Gyde was rewarded during the second half after a well worked attack down the left with Daisy Tomlinson led to an opportunity for Emma Clarkson to slot home the second goal for the visitors.
Both teams continued to battle until a scrabble in the Halifax D saw an unfortunate goal slip past goalkeeper Georgia King but Halifax held the lead to the final whistle.
