Halifax Ladies V 3-2 Wakefield V
Halifax had home advantage for the return leg of this Yorkshire Division Five match following Wakefield’s annihilation of Halifax earlier in the season.
Much of the first half was very even. Halifax’s defence made it very difficult for Wakefield to attack, and when they did penetrate the defence, Georgia King in goal managed to clear the ball out wide in the first half. Alice Buckle played the ball down the sideline, where midfielders Katie Smith and Laura Armstrong worked together to push the ball up to Emma Clarkson who scored the first goal making it 1-0 to Halifax at half time.
In the second half, Claire O’Brien and Sasha Penny-Ward cleared the ball to midfielders Hannah Gyde and Alana Hampshire who worked with Daisy Tomlinson to keep the ball in the attacking half. Emma Clarkson scored the second goal of the game and Sam Sutcliffe attacked on the left to score a third. Wakefield came back into the game, scoring two gaols, ensuring an exciting finish.
