The final U16 Girls Yorkshire league tournament of the season took place on Sunday 8th March

GAME 1 : Leeds "A"

Halifax 0 - 1 Leeds A

Halifax started the game slowly with poor passing failing to create chances. As the game progressed Halifax began to find their feet with chances to score falling to Lydia Robinson, Anna Butterworth & Robyn Fawkes but no one was able to convert them into goals. Halifax were more or less camped in the Leeds half but were occasionally caught on the break. Good work in defence by Katie Illingworth and Rachel Costellokept Leeds at bay until the last 5 minutes when a goal mouth scramble saw an unmarked Leeds player at the far post slot the ball home.

GAME 2 : Leeds "B"

Halifax 6 - 0 Leeds B

Halifax threw caution to the wind & moved Illingworth from defence into midfield. From the start Halifax pressed & within a few minutes Robinson opened up the scoring. This led the way for a goal fest which resulted in Robinson scoring 4 goals with Fawkes and Butterworth getting a goal each. Leeds very rarely troubled the Halifax goal with the Halifax defence of Jess Wilson, Zoe Woodhead, Costello and Grace Allen standing strong.

GAME 3 : City of York

Halifax 1 - 0 City of York

A high spirited Halifax team started their last game in determined fashion and quickly took control of the game through Regan Midgley, Butterworth, Fawkes, Illingworth & Heather Platts across the middle of the park. The relentless pressure eventually told with Robinson once again scoring the opening goal. Halifax continued to press but chances went a begging. York created a few chances on the break but sweeper Allen stamped out any risk together with some good kicking by Leah O’Connell in goal.

A good finish to the season so well done to all the girls.
