The latest Junior tournament for the U14 girls took place this weekend

Halifax 2 - 0 Northallerton

Halifax started the game in a determined fashion and quickly dominated the midfield through Amelie Horner, Sophie Hall, Katelyn Muff and Annabelle Mia Shaw. Shots from Kimberley Gaukroger and Holly Powell brought saves from the Northallerton keeper and it took a strong sweep shot into the far side of the goal by Horner to give Halifax the lead. Northallerton rarely threatened the Halifax goal due to the strong defensive play by Isabella English-Burns, Harriet Cameron, Liberty Baldwin and Rebecca Kirby. A fine solo run and strong shot by Horner gave Halifax their second goal and deserved win.

Halifax 2 - 0 Harrogate

An upbeat Halifax started their second game where they left off, fine wing play by Muff caused Harrogate all sorts of problems and shots by Gaukroger and Powell narrowly missing the Harrogate goal. Halifax unfortunately lost Kirby with a suspected broken arm sustained during a fall but the hard work by Hall and Ravneet Panesar in midfield more than compensated. The Halifax pressure eventually told with Horner firing the ball home to give Halifax the lead. Halifax continued to press with good work from Gabriella Hunter and Powell and it was only a matter of time before the second goal came through yet again Horner.

Halifax 0 - 3 Bradford

The final game of the day was the decider with Bradford having scored 15 goals in their two previous games, Halifax therefore changed formation to a slightly more defensive line-up. Halifax battled in midfield through Horner, Hill,, Mia Shaw and Hall but Bradford moved the ball at pace all over the pitch and soon had Halifax on the back foot. The Halifax defence of English-Burns, Baldwin, Liberty, Cameron and Panesar worked tirelessly but the pressure eventually gained Bradford a short corner and the resultant shot found the back of the net. Halifax continued to battle and press but Bradford were just too strong and converted a further two short corners. Bradford failed to score from open play thanks to the fine saves by Georgia King
