HALIFAX 0 - 1 YORK II
A new U14 girls team started their first game tentatively and were soon under pressure from a strong York team.
Halifax battled well in midfield but struggled to establish any possession. York continued to apply the pressure which eventually led to their goal within 10 minutes.
Halifax confidence grew and soon began to pass the ball well with Amelie Horner, Annabelle Mia shaw and Sophie Hall controlling midfield.
Halifax won a string of short corners but were unable to make them tell.
Good goal keeping by Shiv Maskill and defence work by Izzie English, Liberty Baldwin and Rebecca Kirby kept York at
bay for the rest of the game. Halifax continued to work hard but could just not find the back of the net.
HALIFAX 1 - 0 NORTHALLERTON
Without a rest Halifax were immediately into their second match.
From the start Halifax dominated the midfield and pressured the Northallerton goal through Katelyn Muff, Caitlin Dyson, Molly Hill & Hall. Plenty of chances came Halifax way with Powell coming close on a number of occasions.
Halifax pressed the Northallerton defence into turning over possession and following a fine passing move resulted in Powell firing the ball home to give Halifax the lead.
Northallerton rarely threatened the Halifax goal with Maskill not even touching the ball. Captain, English controlled the defence really well and was well supported by Olivia Sylge, Millie Cockcroft and Harriet Cameron ensured that any threat was quickly
cancelled out.
Halifax dominated the entire game but couldn't just find the finishing touch for the second goal.
A good promising start to a new season!
