Kicking off proceedings are Halifax Ladies 3’s at 11.00am in the final of the Yvonne Horner Shield, the Cup competition for teams playing in Division 3 and below.

Halifax’s opponents are Leeds 3 who have an unblemished record in their league campaign, including two wins over Halifax, so the odds are stacked in favour of the Leeds outfit.

Their record stands at played 20 games, won 20 games, scoring an average of just under 5 goals a games while conceding just 6. They won Division 4 North by 15 points from Ben Rhydding who pipped Halifax for second spot.

Halifax’s Captain, Nicola Boulton has insisted her team remain positive and has tried to come up with a plan to deal with Leeds goal threat. Kiera Hayman has had an impressive first season in goal and with an experienced backline of Jess Stott, Alison McManus and Sharon Crawshaw in front of her is relishing the challenge.

Halifax have been boosted by the return from injury of Reagan Midgley who will play in front of the back three. Boulton will start the match partnering Cara James in the centre of midfield, with Gracie Oddy, Gypsy Goldthorpe and Robyn Fawkes providing the width.

Meanwhile the firepower will be provided by Vicki Ferdinando and youngster Lydia Robinson after Sara Woodhead was added to Halifax’s injury list and will not play. Utility player Zoe Ribchester will start on the bench.

Halifax are hoping for good support from the home crowd, while Leeds will no doubt enjoy the backing of their other teams playing later in the day. It promises to be a good atmosphere!

The best hockey on show should come from the finalists in the Men's League Cup between Leeds 3 and Sheffield University Bankers (1.00pm start) and the Womens Yorkshire Cup final between Dewsbury 1 and Leeds 2 (3.00pm start).
