The U14 lads travelled to Pocklington this morning to play in their 3rd Yorkshire league tournament of the season

GAME 1 :

1st match V Huddersfield was a real wake up call but the lads didn't really get out of the blocks throughout the game and down 3-0

GAME 2 :

2nd match against Leeds Adel saw the skilful midfield pairing of Kaenan Sutcliffe and Jakob Morley starting to shine and with this the team started to play some good hockey. Jack Thomson, Bailey Bragborough, Tom Waddington and Alex Gloag all started to pass the ball with more purpose and Sam Bizley found his scoring touch again. His 1st was a deft touch from a good Blagborough pass then he slapped the ball home from a firmly struck Morley cross. Adel pulled a goal back but solid defending from Jacob Edmondson and keeper Harrison Thomis ensure a well deserved win.

GAME 3 :

3rd game was against Chapletown and the team had a nightmare 5 minutes allowing Chapletown to score 2 soft goals. From then on, Morley and Sutcliffe took control and the team camped in the Chapletown half. Bizley made some great runs and once again scored the teams goals as they got to 2-2. Unfortunately, the team did not have time to get the winner which they deserved.

GAME 4 :

4th game against Wakefield saw the team who did not have any subs, tire and particularly the influential Sutcliffe and Morley. Keeper was called into action on several occasions as the team had to defend for long periods, Thomson played really well and is developing into a good defender. Gloag and Waddington also tackled well with Blagborough making some good runs into Wakefield D. A single Wakefield goal was enough to win the game and perhaps the correct result on the balance of play.

The coaching staff were very pleased with some of the hockey played and the development of the boys- well done to them all and their parents for taking them on the long journey to Pocklington.
